Dr John Post is an artist, researcher, and educator working at the intersection of photography, creative practice, and applied social sciences. His research and practice explores queer identity, embodiment, and digital intimacy.

He is a Research Associate in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Stirling, where he is working on a research project on photography and urban change in Scotland. He completed his PhD in Art and Design at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University, in 2026, building on an MFA in Photography, awarded with distinction. His doctoral thesis, Cruising for Another Picture: Refiguring Empathy in Queer Male Photography, examined photography as a site of relational encounter, exploring empathy, queer identity, and digital intimacy through collaborative photographic practice and ethnographic methods.

Post's work has been exhibited widely across the UK, including with Belfast Exposed, the Scottish Portrait Awards, the Scottish Arts Club, Getty Images, and the Royal Photographic Society's International Photography Exhibition (IPE 163). He has spoken at venues including PhotoIreland's Think Tank and the inaugural LGBTQ+ Research at Ulster conference. A former picture editor, he has also taught photography and research methods at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and the Belfast School of Art, supporting interdisciplinary creative practice across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
